Till some years back asian platform bed sheets used to be made from white cotton cloth. You are astonished at the range of unusual bedding that are on offer nowadays. Bedding was never so beautiful with the vibrant colors, prints and textures that are offered in bedding nowadays

Following are some factors that matter a lot when you purchase a bedsheet.

Take the beds measurements

It is a common myth that one queen bed or king bed has the same proportions which is so untrue. Usually the top measurements dont differ a lot but the other dimensions vary with each bed producer. The bottom line is that you need to estimate the height, width, breadth of the bed and also check how thick the mattress is. Your bed could be shorter or taller than another one from the same manufacturer. It is always better to be ready with your beds dimensions prior to shopping.

Choose your Storehouse

Bigger departmental storehouses have a separate department for linen and bedding and offer branded sheets and in-house brands under the same roof. More the thread count, more is the richness of the fabric. Beware of a very high thread count as the sheet may have finer threads and not the texture you want. A soft bedsheet has a thread count that lies between 175 and 250.

Pick your bedsheet material

Take care to choose a fabric that you can afford and is easy too. Though cotton fiber is the most preferable material, some people go for the cotton blends as they do not crease. A crisp night calls for a flannel bed sheet. Then there is the all time favorite silk, satin or microfiber that provides luxury.

Calculate the size of the bed sheet

Now you need to calculate the length and breadth of the bed sheet. Refer the bed size and find out if the chosen bed sheet will be perfect for it. Recall that all bedding shrink by 7% when they are first washed. It is a good idea to stock up some extra sets of . This way an accidentally torn sheet can be replaced fast.

Mathew and the Highland Rescue - Book Review

Posted in Dead Wood Delights by admin on the April 24th, 2008

“A stimulating adventure! Sabine Muir has written a
wonderful children’s story that can be read many, many
times. This is a time-travel, Christian fantasy novel that
reminds me a little bit of one of my favorite childhood books,
‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.

Here, the main character, Mathew, is a young boy growing
up under difficulties that are quite uncommon from his
piers. Mathew’s father is missing, his mother has begun a
new romance and bullying at school weighs heavily upon
his young shoulders. Mathew thought he could escape it all
during his stay at his Aunt and Uncle’s tranquil family farm.
Unexpectedly, Mathew and his cousins are thrown into an
adventure when they accidentally enter a mystery gateway
into to a world of Kings, Queens, Castles and ghosts.

Sabine Muir’s use of factual, historical legendary characters
brought the Canmore Dynasty to life - an era that is quickly
fading from all memory. The author’s research and
understanding of the historical era is evident in this
excellent piece of work. Her fascination with this particular
section in time has produced several works of fiction.

‘Mathew and the Highland Rescue’ is only the first in a
series of adventure books. A delightful light read for the
adventurous and young-of-heart. I look forward to reading
her next published work.”
